Entry Recommendations:

Completion of any Year 10 Digital Technologies an advantage.  Suited for students who are confident in a wide range of common software. 

Course Outline:

This course is designed for students who have good computer skills, and who want to design computer programs or physical components like Game Boards or Cards to make a purposeful game.  It encourages students to apply their existing knowledge and expand their learning in context-based projects. Students will learn the skills and techniques required to make a quality game to satisfy end-user needs, while also considering relevant implications.

Games can be made as a program or as physical form as in a Board Game or Card Came.

 

Topics likely to include:

  • Developing computer programming skills or Design software skills
  • Proposal development
  • Iterative process to develop a digital outcome
  • Working with end-users to determine their requirements and needs
  • Project planning and management

Skills:

  • Planning and documenting digital solutions to address a real-world problem
  • Creating simple computer programs and Using a game engine to create a 2D game

or

  • Creating and printing game pieces for a board or card game using design software
  • Testing procedures and version control
  • Problem solving through the technological process

It is expected that students will engage with their projects beyond class time.
