Entry Recommendations:

Open Entry. Students cannot do this course alongside any Mathematics course due to overlapping standards.

Course Outline:

This course applies practical life and maths skills to real-life situations (e.g. buying a car, going flatting, getting a job) so that students can make more informed decisions going forward.  This course will include up to three Level 2 NCEA Mathematics achievement standards in combination with core generic (life skills) unit standards.

Assessment:

In class tests for Mathematics achievement standards assessments. Core generic assessments are more assignment based.

Where Does It Lead:

This course is intended for students wanting to continue with a Mathematics related course past Year 11.  It would suit students who do not intend to study Mathematics at Level 3 or who intend to leave school at the end of Year 12.
