Entry Recommendations:

Students should discuss their suitability with the HOD Māori.  No prior experience of performing arts, or knowledge of Māori language needed.

Course Outline:

Waihora taniwha, Waihora moana! Ka tuku te mihi maioha ki a koutou, a warm greeting to you all.

This course gives students an opportunity to experience the different aspects of Kapahaka, Māori Performing Arts. Students will be able to learn the history of the local area, and the origins of Māori Performing Arts through mōteatea, waiata, poi, haka, and waiata ā-ringa.

Assessment:

 There are 2 internal assessments and 2 external assessments offered in this course. All standards offered are Achievement Standards, and this is a University Entrance subject.

Year 13 - Further study at University, kapa haka tutoring, competitive kapa haka
