Course Outline:

In this course you will learn:

  • How to make high quality, creative wearable arts.
  • Collaborating in a group to come up with new, exciting ideas.
  • Show understanding of colour, shape, size and repetition and using this knowledge to create good designs.
  • Cleverly using upcycled materials to showcase the importance of sustainability in an ever-changing world.

Other skills you will learn in becoming a designer are:

  • Being inspired by other wearable arts design to show your own creativity in a range of ideas that meet a brief.
  • Developing ideas and skills in fashion drawing, to show form and texture of materials.
  • Exploring and testing a variety of different materials, using different application methods, including led lights.
  • Solving problems to come up with high quality finished solutions.

 

Where Does It Lead:

This course leads to Junior C (Year 10) and Senior Technology courses at Year 11 and NCEA Levels 2 and 3.
