Course Outline:

Students are continuing their study of the Chinese language from JCHIa which they have built up more fluency in speaking and reading characters.

Students’ Chinese language presentation and four skills are more developed. They will have many opportunities to show their ability in communication and intercultural skills, such as paper cutting, calligraphy writing and a taste of Chinese food, Students will participate a "Pathway Workshop" Day at UC alongside students from other schools studying Chinese. What students learn in class is useful and important in the Tourism and Business Industries.

Topics include Everyday language such as: Schools, Country and Nationality, Sports, Hobbies and Food. Students will practise in groups, pairs, use audio, videos and character cards to help them to learn the language well.

Assessment:

Students are assesses through self and peer assessment as well as more formal tests. Small and frequent tests covering the four main skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Students will study Level 1 and Level 2 of the Chinese curriculum.

Where Does It Lead:

Junior Chinese Course, JCHIc. Students also further develop knowledge of an exciting writing system along with everyday conversational Chinese that is important in the Tourism and Business Industries.
