Entry Recommendations:

It is expected that students have obtained at least 10 credits from Level 2 English Achievement Standards. 

Course Outline:

This course is based around texts which draw their inspiration from both science fiction and the supernatural. We will explore the way in which fantastical settings can teach us more about ourselves and human nature, than settings which are more mundane. If you want to study films, books and plays which take your imagination to its limit, this course could be for you.

Please note that English is currently undergoing a national curriculum rewrite. This course is subject to change.

Assessment:

This course is made up of internal and external achievement standards. Students are expected to sit both external (examination) Achievement Standards.  Assessments in this course may change to reflect updates in the new English curriculum. 

Where Does It Lead:

University – many courses require NCEA Level 3 English as a prerequisite (refer to Careers information).
