Entry Recommendations:

Students are expected to have completed Year 11 French or discuss their suitability with the French teacher.

 

Course Outline:

The course aims to increase students' confidence in speaking French in everyday situations. 

Students will learn about other French speaking countries throughout the world, increasing appreciation of different cultures. They will focus on giving and responding to advice and opinions relating to topical discussions. They will be encouraged to read a wide variety of literary media. A French film study will also be part of the course.  Work is based on Level 7 and 8 of the New Zealand Learning Languages Curriculum.

The four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking will be assessed.

Where Does It Lead:

French Level 3 and further study at polytechnic or university. A second language is a valuable skill.
