Entry Recommendations:

NCEA Literacy Co-Requisite Unit Standards in Reading (5 credits) and Writing (5 credits).
Alternatively, students can discuss their suitability with the HOLA, Ms Lamont.

Course Outline:

English is not compulsory at Year 12; however, it is strongly recommended.

This course is designed for students who enjoy thinking deeply, reading widely, and writing with purpose. You will build a refined writing portfolio that showcases both creative flair and structured formal work. Alongside this, you’ll explore a range of literature and sharpen your analytical skills through close reading of thought-provoking texts. A passion for independent reading and writing will help you thrive in this course, as you develop greater confidence and sophistication in your written voice.

Assessment:

This course is made up of internal and external achievement standards. Students are expected to sit both external (examination) Achievement Standards.  Assessments in this course may change to reflect updates in the new English curriculum. 

Where Does It Lead:

ENC301, ENW301, ENF301, ENR001, ENS001 and ENG301. Applicable to most areas of employment and tertiary study.
