Ākonga are expected to participate actively in all activities and attend extra rehearsals outside of class for public performances. 

Course Outline:

This is a creative, practical course where you will: 

  • Create original performances based on student- chosen topics relevant to life in New Zealand, learning how to bring stories to life on stage 
  • Develop public speaking and critical thinking skills through impromptu speaking, critique, and feedback 
  • Hone improvisation skills through Theatresports games and activities 
  • Build teamwork and collaboration skills (mahitahi) in a supportive environment where everyone’s creativity is valued 

If you’re keen to take Drama at Year 11, it’s strongly recommended you take both Year 10 Drama courses: JDRAb and JDRAc. 

Assessment:

Practical assessments throughout the semester.

Where Does It Lead:

Drama develops communication, confidence and creative thinking – skills that are valuable across many subjects and career pathways. Drama continues into senior years as a University Entrance-approved subject.
