Entry Recommendations:

Open entry, but this course is best suited for students with a strong interest in Drama and performance.

Ākonga are expected to rehearse both in class and in their own time. Evening performances for major roles are part of the course.

Course Outline:

Semester 2 is a practical course where you will: 

  • Perform in a class production, exploring a variety of theatre styles and developing strong, believable characters 
  • Learn to think critically about performances – including your own and professional theatre 
  • Develop scriptwriting and directing skills, culminating in directing your own scene for a live audience 
  • Build teamwork, leadership, and communication skills through collaborative projects 
Where Does It Lead:

This course helps you develop confidence, creativity, and leadership skills that are valuable across many areas of study and future careers. You’ll gain experience in performance, directing, and scriptwriting – skills that will prepare you for future drama courses and beyond. 

Ākonga can continue into Year 12 Drama if entry requirements are met or by discussion with the HOD.
