Lincoln High School has a rich history. Its origins date back to 1903, when it was designated a District High School, a status it would retain until 1945, when it became a Rural District High School, enrolling 43 students on its first day. By 1957, there was increasing roll pressure and the desire for some autonomy. Successful moves were made for Lincoln to become a full high school in 1959, and with direct access to the Education Department now set in concrete, the school would be able to control its own future.
