This makes it a good choice for students who may dislike the thematic courses on offer or are willing to explore a wide range of literature and genres.

The key skills covered in this programme are:

  • formal writing
  • literature extended text studies
  • information literacy skills
  • oral text skills
  • close reading
  • connections between texts
  • static visual text skills

This course is an Option B course, completing the same skills as Sport and Adventure, Myths, Legends and Pūrākau and Literature in Te Ao Māori but without a connected theme. All Year 11 students must select one course from Option A and one course from Option B to complete their English studies.
