Course Outline:

In this course, students will learn about current issues in our world, including poverty, inequality and human rights, and issues of the student's choice.  They will then look at what inspiring groups and individuals are doing about these problems. The final part of the course will be students planning and carrying out a social action of their own.

Students will develop skills such as research, planning group work, community engagement and social change.

Students taking this course need to be self-motivated and committed to seeing their social action through to completion.

This course can be taken in combination with any other Year 11 Social Studies semester course.

Where Does It Lead:

Social Studies 201 and 301, Tertiary studies involving (but not limited to) social work, society and policy, social and community services, political science, law and public relations.
