Course Outline:

In English, you will choose two English courses.  One from Group A and one from Group B. 

If you need more support with literacy, you will be placed in 11ENL English Literacy as one of your courses.

You can choose 11ENW “The ‘Write’ Stuff:  Writing in English in addition to your Group A and Group B Course.

Students will learn about a variety of texts through the genre of pūrākau, myths and legends. Students will look at a range of Greek, European, Pasifika, and Asian mythology as well as pūrākau from te ao Māori. Alongside this we will look at fascinating legends from across the globe. There are several opportunities for students to complete tasks based on their choice of myths or legends.

  • static visual text skills


The Myths, Legends and Pūrākau course is an Option B course, completing the same skills as General English B, Te Ao Māori and Sport and Adventure but through a Myths, Legends and Pūrākau theme. All Year 11 students must select one course from Option A and one course from Option B to complete their English studies.  

 

Assessment:

There are three Year 11 Diploma assessments in this course.
