Course Outline:

Part 1 - Level up your design skills. Design with purpose.

In Year 10 DVC, you’ll build on what you’ve learned – or start fresh – and dive deeper into architectural design.

You’ll develop real design skills through hands-on, creative projects like:

  • Designing Pet architecture or holiday cabin
  • Planning a community space (like a skatepark, or pavilion)
  • Exploring sustainable design or materials

You’ll learn how to:

  • Draw in one-point and two-point perspective
  • Use architectural drawing conventions
  • Develop and present ideas through sketching, rendering, modelling, and CAD tools

This course sets you up with the foundation for NCEA DVC and pathways into architecture, interior design, building, and engineering.

Assessment:

Assessment will be through project-based work, completed throughout the semester.

Where Does It Lead:

DVC year 11.  

If you’re aiming for a career in a creative or technical field, this is the subject for you. DVC leads to exciting pathways like Architecture, Engineering, Industrial Design, Landscape and Interior Design, Graphic/Web Design, Game Design, Animation, Product Design, CAD, Media Graphics, Mechanical Drawing, and Quantity Surveying.
