Entry Recommendations:

This course is for any student who has an interest in music. It is highly recommended that student have completed the semester one course and can play an instrument to a beginner level. 

Course Outline:

This course is all about extending your musical talents through group and solo performances in different settings. You'll get to sharpen your composition and arranging abilities, delve into researching various music genres, and improve your theoretical knowledge and listening skills. Get ready to take your musical understanding to the next level! 

To be successful in this course you students are strongly advised to be receiving tutored instrument or voice lessons alongside their Music course.  These can often be provided through our itinerant music scheme - for more information see the Music department. 

During the course, we will: 

  • Perform as both an individual and in groups pieces within a performance context. 
  • Explore composition techniques and introduce arranging skills using instruments and music software to create original music 
  • Analyse written and recorded music to explore various musical concepts, genres, and contexts 
  • Train our ears to comprehend music better.

Where Does It Lead:

Students who wish to take music at Year 11 are encouraged to take both music options.  This course prepares students for music at Year 11.
