 Completion of Year 10 Materials Technology 

Course Outline:

In this semester course students learn about machining and equipment through the application of them into a practical project along with written evidence.

Over the two semesters, two balistics based projects are undertaken.  Both projects involve machining on lathes, milling machines etc and include braising and hand work.  Students completing both semesters would complete both projects whereas if a student was completing one semester - one project would be undertaken.  The projects are: a nurf cannon and a table top trebuchet.

There will be one internal NCEA assessment used in this course.

Where Does It Lead:

Materials Technology ( Engineering) leading to polytechnic courses.  Metal-based trade industries and metal-related employment opportunities.
