Course Outline:

This course will use a mixture of unit standards from either Construction or Engineering trades.  The projects in the course are around building on skills from Level 2, with a focus on Craft and producing a well designed piece of furniture that incorporates a number of different techniques and materials, curving and shaping timber through lamination, jig making and the use of resin with the option of students being able to design parts of the furniture themselves.

Where Does It Lead:

Polytechnic courses in material related trades and related employment opportunities in the engineering industry e.g. Filter, turner, welder, engineer, blacksmith, sheet metal, fabricator, plastic engineering etc.

Building related trades and related employment opportunities in building e.g. joinery, furniture making, carpentry, cabinet maker, boatbuilding etc.
