- Course Outline:
This course is suited to students that are planning to leave school at the end of term 2 in Year 12 to attend mid-year tertiary courses eg: Ara and SIT construction or gain employment. There will be approximately three Level 2 unit standards so that students can start their NCEA qualifications early and complete it midway thorough Year 12.
Students will learn about International and Domestic Tourism in NZ, along with characteristics of NZ as a tourist destination. Nearly 7.5% of New Zealand’s workforce (188,000 full time jobs) are employed in this sector, and students will learn about the various work roles available. Education tour of the International Antarctic Centre and the various work roles at this attraction are included in this course.
- Where Does It Lead:
Year 12 Tourism and it will also provide a foundation on which to develop the skills and knowledge required by the tourism Industry.
