Minimum of 18 credits in NCEA Level 1 Art (or HOD's recommendation).
- Course Outline:
This course is intended for those students who wish to pursue a broad art interest in terms of formal art study. Areas of study include Painting, Sculpture, and related drawing techniques.
Half of the year is dedicated to the study of Painting whilst the other half of the course is dedicated to Sculpture. The Achievement standards that make up this course are:
2.1 Sculpture: Demonstrate an understanding of methods and ideas from established practice appropriate to Sculpture, 4 credits.
2.2 Sculpture: Use drawing to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to Sculpture, 4 credits.
2.4 Printmaking Folio: Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art-making conventions and ideas within Printmaking, 12 External credits
2.4 Painting Folio: Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art-making conventions and ideas within Painting, 12 External credits.
Total 20 credits.
- Where Does It Lead:
To a further understanding of existing methods and ideas, which underlie the making of art. This course will provide a sound basis for further study at Year 13, and beyond, at any of the schools of art and architecture, animation, craft/design, film, television and photography courses.
