Entry Requirements:

Successful completion of Year 10 Physical Education or Physical Exercise Science including full involvement and participation. It is expected that students in PED101 are focused on the theoretical elements of Physical Education, as well as the practical elements.

Course Outline:

This course has an academic focus using physical activity as the main context. It is designed to encourage students to think critically about different physical activity experiences and present information in a range of formats. The course features a mix of theory and practical lessons designed to prepare students to develop key skills leading into senior Physical Education and Tertiary study.

The following standards are being considered for this course:

AS90962 (1.1) Participate in a range of physical activities and explain factors that affect participation.

AS90963 (1.2)   Demonstrate understanding of the function of the body as it relates to the performance of a physical activity.

AS90965 (1.4)   Demonstrate understanding of societal influences on physical activity and the implications for self and others.

AS90966 (1.5)   Demonstrate interpersonal skills and use ongoing reflection to explain the effects on the functioning of a group or team.

AS90968 (1.7)   Demonstrate and describe responsible behaviour for safety during outdoor education activities
