Entry Requirements:

18 credits in Level 1 PED101 or 16 credits in PER101 or at the discretion of the HOLA. PED201 students cannot enter into PER201.  Students who also select SPF201 need to understand that some credits will overlap. 

Course Outline:

This course is designed to prepare students for the academic elements of Physical Education. Course content will be delivered mainly during theoretical lessons, before students apply their knowledge in a practical setting. It is anticipated that PED201 students will be moving on to Level 3 Physical Education and tertiary study.

The following standards are being considered for this course:

AS91328   (2.2) Demonstrate understanding of how and why biophysical principles relate to the learning of physical skills.

AS91329 (2.3) Demonstrate understanding of the application of biophysical principles to training for physical activity.

AS91330  (2.4) Perform a physical activity in an applied setting.

AS91333  (2.7) Analyse the application of risk management strategies to a challenging outdoor activity.

AS91335   (2.9) Examine the implementation and outcome(s) of a physical activity or opportunity.
