Open entry for students in any senior year level but suited to students with an intermediate level of English. (This course is not suited to elementary level students.)
- Course Outline:
This course further develops English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students will also study a visual text, short stories and develop research and essay writing skills.
Three literacy credits are available as there will be one Level 1 internal NCEA assessment. It may be possible for students to attempt a second NCEA assessment, depending on individual need. Other assessments will consist of class tests and individual tasks.
It is expected that most students taking this course will take both ESOL semesters. This will allow them to study ESOL for the full year. This will give them the opportunity to develop their English skills sufficiently to take Level 2 ESOL (or possibly Level 2 mainstream English) the following year.
