- Course Outline:
Year 10 is a full year course that expands upon the skills and knowledge gained in Year 9. New techniques and in-depth investigations of particular artmaking methods and ideas are explored. Students’ critical thinking and creative abilities are fostered through student directed projects.
Topics include:
- Observational Drawing.
- Painting.
- Screenprinting T-shirt design.
- Sculpture.
- Printmaking.
- Design.
- Photographic projects.
- A variety of creative projects.
- Assessment:
Assessment is by means of presentation of practical work, peer critique and self review. Students are offered a Level 1 Achievement Standard in observational drawing. Visual Arts 1.2 use drawing methods for reading information using wet and dry media, 4 credits.
- Where Does It Lead:
NCEA Level 1 Art and beyond to specialist courses in Years 12 and 13. Art also opens up opportunities in a huge range of creative enterprises, including animation, photography, architecture, film, design, etc.
