Course Outline:

Year 9 Art is a two term course that covers the basic skills and fundamental ideas of the visual arts.  Importance is placed on learning how to draw, as well as fostering students’ creative abilities.

Practical work includes:

  • Drawing.       
  • Painting.       
  • Printmaking.  
  • Sculpture.     
  • Design.           

A variety of techniques and themes are studied.


Assessment is by means of presentation of practical work, peer critique and self review.

Where Does It Lead:

Art in Year 10 and beyond. Art also opens up opportunities in a huge range of creative enterprises, including animation, architecture, film, photography and design.
