Course Outline:

You don't need to be from a farming background to study Agribusiness.

Agribusiness is a course of study that integrates the primary industries with commerce.  This Agribusiness course is designed to look beyond the farm gate and engage and expose students to the wide range of opportunities, skills required and career pathways available across the Agribusiness sector, from production, processing to distribution.

Areas covered also include innovation, management, finance and marketing.

There will be keynote speakers, field trips, case studies and collaboration with Lincoln University.

Assessment:

4 internal standards (3 Agribusiness standards and 1 Business Studies standard) on offer totaling 15 credits, which mainly involve individual project work.

Where Does It Lead:

Agribusiness standards currently count towards University Entrance (UE) in Business Studies. Students also completing Business Studies need to account for this when selecting their 3 (min) UE subjects, i.e. Business Studies, Agribusiness and Accounting would only provide 2 UE approved subjects.

Tertiary study in Agribusiness

Careers within the 7 primary sectors; agriculture, dairy manufacturing, equine, forestry, horticulture, seafood and sports turf
