The Form System

When students come to Lincoln they will be members of a Form of about 40 students from Years 9-13. Students stay with this form until they leave school. In the form they will get to know students from all levels of the school and the older students will act as their peer support leaders. Two or three teachers look after the form.

While students are at school they will be shown how to study, how to set goals, and also get advice on selecting subjects to let them achieve their chosen careers.

Parents and caregivers are welcome to contact the Guidance staff if they have any worries about their children or their children's learning.

Guidance Programmes

Orientation Programme

We run an orientation programme for students when they first come to school so that they can settle in quickly. Part of this is the Peer Support Programme in which Year 13 students guide them through a range of activities to help them feel part of our community. For the first two days at school Year 9 will be the only students here, apart from their peer support leaders. This allows the new students to find their way around more easily.

Planning For Success

Form teachers help students reflect on their goals for learning and their involvement in school activities. By doing this students take more responsibility for their learning by setting positive and achievable goals for themselves.

Vocational Advice

Our Careers advisor can help students with their questions about career and offer information, advice and counselling. Students can also use the computer programmes, Kiwi Careers, Kiwi Careers Pathfinder and Career Quest to help them find information about careers and all the opportunities available. "The Real Game", a career programme, is a compulsory part of the Social Studies course for Year 10 students.

Course Counselling

Towards the end of each year students sit down with the teachers responsible for their level and talk about the subjects they want to choose for the next year. The teachers will help students to choose the subjects that are needed for their careers.
