Partnerships - Keeping In Touch
We encourage the closest possible communication between parents or
caregivers and our school. We appreciate being informed of problems
at home that may affect a student?s learning at school. Likewise, we
will contact you if we need to.
Parents and caregivers can make interview appointments with either
the Principal or staff by phoning the School Office (03 325 2121).
Reports To Parents
Term One
A brief report is issued just prior to the Parent-Teacher interviews
which take place late in the term.
Term Two
Detailed reports, reviewing student learning to date, are issued at
the end of the term.
Term Three
Parent-Teacher interviews are held early in the term to enable
parents or caregivers to discuss reports with teachers. Students are
encouraged to attend. At the end of the term reports for students in Years
11, 12 or 13 are issued.
Term Four
Students in Years 9 or 10 receive their reports at the end of the
year.
Newsletter
We post newsletters home to parents/ caregivers two or three times
each term. Details of coming events and news
of school activities are contained in the newsletter. You can also
access the newsletter
here.
Hours
Our school hours are from 8.45am to 3.05pm. On Wednesday school
finishes at 2.15pm to allow students to participate in sporting
activities in Christchurch.
The School Office is open from 8.00am to 4.20pm.
School Donation
While our annual School Donation is voluntary, it is essential if
the school is to provide a full range of equipment and educational,
cultural, sporting and social activities.
We ask every parent or caregiver signing the application form to pay
this donation. It is tax deductible, and we issue receipts following
payment.
For 2010 the amounts are:
- $130 for one student
- $210 for two or more students
The charges indicated in the Course Booklet for some subjects cover
the cost of materials used, paper and booklets issued to students,
field trips, etc. We will inform you of these charges each year.
Computing Charges
Students pay for their computing costs through their accounts. They
need a credit in their account before they are able to print off
material.
Elected Bodies
Board Of Trustees
Lincoln High School is governed by its Board of Trustees who are
responsible for matters of policy. It consists of five members, who
are elected by parents and caregivers, up to four co-opted members,
a member elected by the staff, a member elected by the students, and
the Principal. The Board meets about once each
month. Its meetings are open to the public.
Parent Teacher Association
Our Parent Teacher Association usually meets on the first Monday of each
month throughout the year. We warmly welcome parents and caregivers
to become involved. The Association provides support for parents and
caregivers in parenting teenagers and enables communication between
parents on a wide variety of issues. It also provides valuable
assistance in fund-raising and runs a second-hand uniform shop.
More information is available
here.
School Council
Each year students and staff select a School Council from Year 13
students. It represents students in a wide variety of ways and is
consulted frequently. Sub-Councils in Arts, Services and the
Environment, Sports, and Social Events raise funds and organise
activities for students.
